This fall, the CCRC will again host the Goblin Gallop and the Two Turkey Relay.
The Goblin Gallop is a FREE one mile fun run that takes place around Halloween time at Longfellow Elementary School in Salida. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Halloween costumes are definitely part of the fun of this race, as is the chance to catch the “goblin”. The Chaffee County Running Club and the Salida High School Cross Country will team up to organize this fun seasonal event.
The Two Turkey Relay will take place on November 11, 2017. This will be the 17th year of this event, which was originated by the late Don Breece, a former, active member of the CCRC. The Two Turkey Relay is a mostly for fun, two person relay. Teams will be chosen by random drawing right before the race. The first team member runs a two mile road loop, then tags their partner, who will run the same loop. All runners who are capable of running continuously for two miles are encouraged to enter. Two minute handicaps are given to all females, anyone 13 or younger, or 60 or older. Cost is $3 for CCRC members, and $5 for non members.
More information on both events will be available shortly.
