CCRC Autumn Races

The CCRC will host 3 races this fall – a citizen’s XC race, the Goblin Gallop, and the Two Turkey Relay.  If you’re looking for fun, low cost, and low key running/racing opportunities in the next few months, keep reading!  Events are open to everyone, so bring a friend, and come on out to race with us this fall!  We could always use volunteers for any of these events as well.  If interested, please email the CCRC at info@chaffeerunning.org.

Saturday, September 29 – Citizen’s XC Race at the Salida HS XC Home Meet

Support Chaffee County high school running by racing in the citizen’s race in the morning, and then cheering on the local middle school and high school teams at the Salida home meet.  The citizen’s race will take place on the high school 5k course.  More information to come soon!

Wednesday, October 31 – Goblin Gallop at Longfellow Elementary School

2017 Goblin Gallop

The Goblin Gallop is a FREE one mile fun run that will take place on Halloween at Longfellow Elementary School in Salida. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend! Halloween costumes are definitely part of the fun of this race, as is the chance to catch the “goblin”. The Chaffee County Running Club and the Salida High School Cross Country will team up to organize this fun seasonal event. No need to pre-register – just show up after school with your signed waiver!

Saturday, November 10 – 19th Annual Two Turkey Relay at Riverside Park in Salida

The Two Turkey Relay is a mostly for fun, two person relay that was originated by the late Don Breece, a former, active member of the CCRC. Teams will be chosen by random drawing right before the race. The first team member runs a two mile road loop, then tags their partner, who will run the same loop. All runners who are capable of running continuously for two miles are encouraged to enter. Two minute handicaps are given to all females, anyone 13 or younger, or 60 or older. Cost is $3 for CCRC members or $5 for non members. Registration will take place beginning at 9am at Riverside Park in Salida, with teams being picked at 9:30am. We are also looking for volunteers to bake pies or other baked goods as prizes for this fun event!
