Angel of Shavano Colorado Trail North

The Colorado Trailhead at Angel of Shavano Campground may be accessed off Hwy 50 at Maysville by taking CR 240 north in Maysville. Drive 5 + miles north to Angel of Shavano Campground. On the north side and across the road is a Colorado Trailhead parking area.

This run is a popular out and back run especially during the fall when the Aspens are in their glory. From the parking lot take the trail at the north end of the lot east until it passes over a small creek. The trail turns steeply north until it turns east and traverses a steep bare hill climbing steadily until gaining the ridge and dropping into heavy spruce and fir. The terrain is varied between open meadows, dark timber and aspen groves. You will pass Blanks Cabin Trailhead (the traditional starting point to climb Mount Shavano). In a mile or so you will pass the Shavano Trail. You can run this trail as far as you like then turn around and retrace your steps.

The mileage depend on how far you want to go.
