Agate Creek

Agate Creek run may be accessed from the Monarch Pass parking lot on Highway 50. The entire Agate Creek Trail run is 18 miles long.

Go southeast on the Continental Divide Trail (Crest Trail). You will pass the South Fooses Creek Trail where the Colorado Trail joins with the Continental Divide Trail. Continue on the CDT/CT past the Greens Creek Trail junction, south just past the Little Cochatopa cut off the Agate Creek Trail branches to the right (west). The trail drops down from here into the Agate Creek drainage passing the Lime Creek Trail junction then an old cabin on the right.

Option one is an exit off the trail which is a 1/2 mile long trail gaining 600 vertical feet to the highway above. Option two is another at least 3 mile long trail that joins the road in the canyon below. This last three miles albeit down hill, is very rough and has a couple of deep creek crossings especially during spring runoff.

The entire Agate Creek Trail run is 18 miles long.
